
Brains were on full display during the Mind Sports Day Chess Competition held on January 16, 2026, as select learners from Grades 5 to 6 faced off in intense matches at the Isidore Library.
Claiming the top spot was Andrey R. Baltazar of Grade 6-Pascal, who showed sharp strategy and calm focus to earn 1st place. Daniel Alexis S. De Leon from Grade 6-Babbage battled his way to 2nd place, while Kyle Alexander S. Macalisang of Grade 5-Minsky made strong moves to secure 3rd place.
Adding to the excitement, Jhaiver Axel L. Paulo from Grade 5-Atanasoff impressed the crowd as a semi-finalist, proving his skill on the chessboard.
The tournament was smoothly facilitated by Sir Rein Teodoro, who guided the matches and ensured fair play throughout the competition.
With every move carefully planned and every match filled with suspense, the chess tournament showed that in Mind Sports Day, strategy, patience, and smart thinking lead to victory.
